Ventura County

Ventura County has some great surf spots, but there is one in particular that outshines them all, Rincon. Ventura County stretches from Rincon down to L.A. County Line. Rincon is an incredibly good right hand point break that breaks over rocks and is usually an easy paddle. It can be a long wave, but is a very crowded wave as well. South of Rincon is Little Rincon which can be a very good right with a lot less people on it. Continuing south are some beach breaks and points like Faria and a reef called Solimar, more beach breaks and then Ventura Overhead.

Ventura itself has C-Street, a good right point, the jetties, the harbor, the Santa Clara Rivermouth which gets very good, but very polluted, as well as some other beach breaks. South of Ventura is Oxnard which has a lot of beach break including the localized Silver Strand. South of Oxnard here is Point Mugu, which allegedly has a great wave but unfortunately is on the Naval base and therefore off-limits to most of us. South of here there are some waves that rarely break, but the coastline is very beautiful. The last break in Ventura County is County Line.

Bring a fullsuit, maybe a springsuit, possibly trunks in the summer, maybe booties in the winter. A regular shortboard is fine, but maybe a step-up too. There are plenty of surf stores, restaurants, and amenities like most of coastal Southern California.
