Duval County is the home of Jacksonville, a large metropolitan city by the beach. Jacksonville Beach has all the amenities a travelling surfer needs including restaurants, motels, hotels, surf stores, nightlife, etc. Visiting surfers may want to bring their trunks, wetsuit top, sunscreen, fullsuit in winter, and any board other than a big wave board(though you never know). As always with Florida, there are sharks.
Breaks here include the famous Mayport Poles which can make sense out of wind-blown junk and is part of the Hanna Recreation area, the localized Jacksonville Pier, and many other beach breaks.
