Central Florida gets some swell, but its standout breaks saw their hay-day some time ago. Apparently the sand has changed allegedly due to some dredging. The coastline of Central Florida stretches from Titusville down to Fort Pierce.
The main surf spots in this area are Cocoa Beach- the pier and the streets, Patrick’s Air Force Base, Sebastian Inlet, and Fort Pierce Inlet. Of course there are plenty of other spots on this stretch of coast.
Like North Florida, Central Florida gets cold in the winter and a full suit and possibly booties would be nice. The remaining months are comfortable and trunks can be worn most of the time.
Like all of Florida, sharks are a threat in Central Florida. Some spots are sharkier than others such as Monster Hole and any break near an Inlet.
The same boards that are used in the rest of Florida can be used here. Standard shortboards and fish hybrids are good choices. According to some locals longboards are not the norm.
