There are a couple of decent known surf spots in St. Lucie County, but also many peaks to be found along the coastline that is accessible. Bring your Florida board, trunks, wetsuit top, sunscreen, fullsuit in the winter, and a respectful attitude.
The Fort Pierce Inlet is the go to spot for South Florida surfers as this is just outside the Bahamas swell shadow. A right can break next to the jetty, but there are peaks as far as the eye can see, so surfing in the crowd is not always necessary to get a decent wave. This wave can barrel and can be peaky.
Walton Rocks is another spot which can get good, but is dangerous when shallow. The waves here can get long both on the inside and outside.
