Martin County is the furthest north county in South Florida and therefore usually gets more swell than the rest of South Florida. Martin County includes part of Hutchinson Island and Hobe Sound. There are a few good breaks along here which can get good. Unfortunately this part of Florida is still within the swell shadow of the Bahamas and thus suffers from a lack of swell during a good portion of the year. Like a lot of Florida, much of the swell is windswell, but North East swells do make it in here to provide some fun surf.
Surf spots in Martin County include Jensen Beach, Stuart Public Beach, Stuart Rocks, and more. Most of the waves here are good lefts breaking on Northeast swells over rock reef. Some spots are localized so be careful. Watch for sharks.
